Since childhood, stories of Tunisia passed down by my grandparents nurtured the idea of a generous country, shaped by sharing, warmth and togetherness.
Lucien was born from a family story, a strong bond with Tunisia, and one simple wish: to create a place that is warm, lively and open.
Arriving from Tunis in 1967, my grandparents settled in Paris, in the very same neighbourhood, near Nation, where the Lucien restaurant now stands.
Tunisian cuisine belongs to no one in particular: it is Berber, Arab, Jewish, Italian, a little French. These cuisines grew up in the same streets, often in the same buildings. Over there, brotherhood is rarely spoken about: you add a place setting and you don't count.
The restaurant carries on that heritage in its own way, without frozen nostalgia: an approachable Tunisian cuisine, moments of sharing, an atmosphere that shifts through the day. From Tunis to Djerba, with a touch of Italian, Lucien tells the story of a lively, generous, unpretentious Mediterranean.
